Granted?...Not so much

I realized that we often take people for granted.
Expect them to be there no matter what.
Expect them to know what we mean and want
Even if we don't say it.
Expect lots from them
And want to give little in return.
Expect undivided attention from them
And yet we act like we have ADD when it comes to them.
It's sad but true.
We have done it plenty of times
....and should definitely stop.
Because no one is granted.
You don't own anybody just like nobody owns you.
Therefore appreciate your dear ones,
Because:
No one in life should be taken for granted.

Yours truly,
Gigi

Gambling...

So the other day, I went to the Hard Rock....

While I was there, I was observing some of the people present. It's amazing how gambling unifies people that normally would never be caught together...From rich Richies, costumed people, to normal individuals; they were all spending away their money with no second thought....

And it made me realize...gambling IS a vice. Playing for $100 is not a problem if its not the money for a certain bills waiting to be paid but one should not take that as an excuse to just keep on gambling and gambling until you sucked your saving account dry.

It's only a machine, a silly game people. If you have been losing for the past hours, your luck is not going to magically change. And let's face it, even if its your birthday it DOESN'T automatically put you on the Jackpot winner list...

So next time, you go to the Hard Rock and you have spend close to 3/4 of what you intended to...Step away from the machine and start moving away from the casino....
You know...there's other facilities at the Hard Rock...If anything, go grab a bite, maybe you'll have more luck with the dish of the day :)

P.S: If you know anybody with a gambling problem, call 1-888-ADMIT-IT (thats a real hotline)

Not A Comedy...

Ever since MJ died people have had different reactions.

From people hyperventilating on TV, to never-ending chain text messages or heated discussions about whether he goes to heaven or hell...

Personally, I think that is plain rude. It has not even been 24 hours since the man has died and people are having comments like "He's probably moon-walking his way to hell" or "It was about time he died".
Like really? Is this how insensitive our world has become?

When it comes to death, you should NEVER rejoice in someone's misfortune. If you didn't like the man, be quiet about it. At least give him a little respect or give his family the respect that they deserve after losing someone that regardless of what he did is dear to them. And one should not discuss the fate of another human being. Whether he goes to Heaven or not is between him and God, your opinion is not needed in this matter. If anything, pray for him.

Losing someone is not an event that should be joked about. This man was someone's son, father, brother, lover, and friend. Now imagine if you had lost your son, father, brother, friend or lover....

It would not have been a laughing matter, right?? Right. Because death is no stand up comedy, it doesn't discriminate. And when it comes, its tears NOT laughter that come to the afflicted people. So be respectful of those that are gone because it could have been any of us...We are just lucky that God decided to keep us longer on this planet.

Stay Respectful,
Gigi

Never Take Life For Granted...

Life is not to be taken for granted.

If you wake up every morning, be grateful and thankful to God.

This post is to pay homage to the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson who died today. Bless his soul, and may he get to the gates of Heaven. Keep his kids in your prayers.

But Remember, "Live Your Life as There Were No Tomorrow" because you never know when it will be your time to go.

When It Comes to Friends, It's Quality over Quantity

Friends.

If you have 3 friends in life, be glad. Its better to have one friend than to be surrounded by unreliable acquaintances. People do not realize it but often when you have a flock of people that you just hang out with, and share some grams of oxygen from times to times; it DOESN'T make you friends with those groups of people. Giving someone a ride to Publix does NOT make him or her your automatic "bud". Just because they got into your car doesn't mean you should start giving them the 411 on your life, from the moment your mom gave birth to you to that little ride to Publix.

A friend is someone that will be there through the good, bad and ugly. A friend knows you and accepts you for who you are even if they feel like beating you up from time to time... A friend is someone that you can just call to say hi, and not feel weird about. A friend is someone that you can share an event that happened to you and not be afraid that you are going to be judge right after saying those words.

In this time, you should be able to distinguish who your real friends are. It could be as easy as seeing who picks up your phone call at 2am when you are going through a rough time, or just seeing who will tell you "boy what were you thinking?" when you mess up. Be careful who you choose as friends because your friends have the power to hurt you in depth you could never think of. Also, make sure that you are a good and loyal friend, because you can only get what you give.

Friend. One word which can open a whole new world of joy, great memories, just as much as unhappiness and sour moments. But the beauty of having friends resides in the fact that you have someone that will be there for you and vice versa.

Remember: "Good Friends are like stars, you don't always see them but you know that they are always there". So if you have a friend, cherish that person. Because in this world, full of two-faced individuals, it is a wonderful thing, to find someone that you can truly call FRIEND.

Power Tripping

Having too much power can drive someone of the walls. It gives you the illusion that you are on top of the world, and that you can do whatever you feel like just cuz.

Power tripping people really amuse me. Just because it SEEMS like you have power, doesn't mean that it will last or better yet that you truly hold that given power in your hands. It seems that whenever humans have some type of hierarchy, they want to believe that they could and should be able to manipulate whomever and whatever they want....

So my food for thought today is, money and power are not here to stay. If you have both, please don't let it go to your head because chances are they will both disappear one day or another... Having too much ego is not a trait to be boastful about.

So if you are one of those power tripping people, try to tone it down a little. Being egotistical never got anyone, too far in life. Take a chill pill, wash it down with some humility. It will help you grow into a way better person and then you will realize that power means nothing if you do not know how to use it properly.

Stay positive,
Gigi

So Addicted...

I read somewhere: "Maybe every man is a drug, some bring you down, and some get you high".

Come to think of it, that statement may be true but it can apply to either man or woman. We all have the capability of being addicting or addicted. It's a matter of controlling the dosage level so that nobody ends up slightly hungover.

Whenever you get involved with someone, there is the chance that you may become addicted that person and vice versa. Some people will make you feel like you could jump off a building and land on a cloud while others, well when you jump you might just not know where you are landing, whether its on a cloud or on a hard concrete floor.... The matter resides in realizing whether that addiction is beneficial to you or detrimental. I mean there's nothing wrong with loving sweets, the problem resides when you end up having diabetes because of it....

So whoever your personal brand of addiction is....just make sure you know how to regulate your dosage...

Worth Fighting For...

"Nothing in life worth having comes easy". I bet you heard that saying many times and even said it before.

But come to think about it, it is true. In life, there are no handouts, no free giveaways, no easy way out. Best believe that if you get something way too easy, you will have to pay for it some way or the other. It is also true that unless you worked out hard for something you wont know its value.

Many people think that life should be easy. Things should just fall off the sky and into their laps. If they want something, they should just clap their hands and magically their object of desire will be there. Well one thing, for sure that is some major bull. Life isn't a fairtales where genies make wishes come true. So if you want something, work hard to get it. Whatever, it might be that you desire, work for it. Because once you get it, you will fully appreciate it. Hard work seems to be a lost value in our world. But we need to remember, that life isn't worth living, if there's nothing worth fighting for.....And when it comes to fighting, we need lots of weapons, among which are hard work, courage, and strong will.

Stay Blessed,
Gigi

#Lies

One of my cousins posted some quotes that I thought were pretty funny....Those quotes are related to lies guys and girls tell which got me thinking...."hummm..."

So here are some of them:
#Lies Boys Tell:
- I love the shirt you've picked out
-I'm on my way. I'll be there in five minutes. I got caught in traffic.
-I don't have any kids in Brazil.
-Of course I want you to stay the night but i got work early tomorrow.
-I left my Cell in my Boy's car; I aint get it back until this morning.. you still wanna go to IHOP?
- You don't believe me?!?... Fine, call him and ask...
-and my personal favorite:I've never seen her in my life.

#Lies Girls Tell:
-I'm not crazy
-I've never done this before
-Nothing's wrong
-Oh! we're just friends...
-and my personal favorite: Its not you its me

Hope you got a good laugh and you are NOT guilty of saying any of those catchy excuses...

Stay blessed,
Gigi

Far From Being Strangers

Remember how when you were little and your parents were like do not talk to strangers?

Well if you look around in your life, you'll be amazed at how many strangers became an integral part of your life. Some are your best friends, some are your significant others, others are just people that you hang out with, but the point of the matter is at a certain point in life they were all strangers.

It's amazing how you meet someone, put defenses against them because you do not know who they are, nor what they might bring to the table. And yet, without you even realizing it, you and those given strangers make a bond that in time can become quite strong. Maybe it's just me but I think that the process in which strangers surpass the stage of strangers is amazing.

What I don't think is amazing is the ballgame where friends become strangers and regress to their initial stage. Maybe it has to do with human nature, but it seems like a vicious cycle where the unknown becomes known and the known becomes incognito.

All in all, strangers amaze me because half of the people in our life, were nonexistent to us years ago. Maybe its fate, maybe its destiny, but in life some of the people that we least expect, become an implicit part of our daily life.

Stay Blessed,
Gigi
