Be Yourself...

Since when did a woman have to be a size 2 to be beautiful?
Since when did a man have to have 12 packs to be desirable?
Since when did you need money to be somebody?
Since when did expressing yourself was looked upon?
Since when being too fat or too skinny determined who you were as a person?
Since when did having a soul was a bad thing?
Since when being different was a "problem"?
Since when do people have no respect for God, their elders or themselves?
Since when this world turn into a chaotic place where no sense is present?

Since when?
Because I am trying to go back to the time:
Where a woman DOES NOT have to be a size 2 to be beautiful,
Where a man DOES NOT have to have 12 packs to be desirable,
Where money DOES NOT make who you are as a person,
Where you could express yourself and feel good about it,
Where being too fat or too skinny was not a problem as long as YOU were OK with it,
Where having a soul was a richness that added to your essence,
Where being different was celebrated because quite frankly being common is overrated,
Where people respected their elders, themselves and most importantly God.

I am trying to go back to the time where the world was no chaos,
And it all made sense whether you were looking
At the horizon to see your future or in the mirror to see yourself.
I am just trying to go back to that time
Where life was still hard but yet you could see the meaning,
Feel the meaning and live that meaning.

I am not trying to fit in or stand out,
Not trying to be common or be a plain Jane,
I am just trying to make sense of my world,
And not make society decides who to be for me.
I just hope you know where you are going,
Because if you are waiting on society to make you,
You will lose your soul and tire your body.

You have to know not to let the world be a cross on your shoulders.
Because all in all, YOU have to know where you want to go
And what YOU want to do about it.

So, Be Yourself, Be Your Own Persona.
It's the best gift you could give to yourself.
