Matter of Trust

I read this quote somewhere and I don't really know to digest it:

"You believe in lies so you can eventually learn to trust no one but yourself".

Quite frankly, it seems partially true, partially false.
I dont think we believe intentionally in lies people tell us.
We might however give them the benefit of the doubt

Even if your gut is telling us not to.

And because of that, at some point in time,

We all seem to think that we cant trust nobody.
But that doesn't necesarily mean

You cant trust no ONE in the literal sense.

We all know people lie.

Big lies, little lies, white lies; people tell it all.
Therefore, you just have to be wise about who you put your trust in.
My interpretation is that you cant trust anybody.

From someone to gain your trust;

They have to prove themselves worthy of such a task and vice versa.

It's not a first come first serve type of thing.
