Procrastination

Procrastination is the mother of all vices.

Ever had something to do and you kept delaying it
Thinking that you will have time to get to it?
Your laziness takes a whole other dimension,
Causing you to postpone the smallest thing
For a better more "enticing" day.

Your do-list seems to have a mind of its own,
With the tasks multiplying getting bigger
And longer by the day.
And when the deadline actually comes,
You feel like ripping your hair out,
Calling all the saints over to help you?

Well lately, procastination has been catching up
Pretty fast to me,
Haunting my mind,
Troubling my thoughts.

So readers, if you know that you and procastination are pretty good friends,
Do yourself a favor and break that bond.
It will only do you good in the long run.

Stay Focused,
Gigi

Insomnia

Don't you hate it when you cant fall asleep?
You are entirely prepared, and yet

The main element seems to evade you.
Pjs? check. Covers? Check. Tummy full? Check.

Sleep....no response.

It's like whenever you are ready to lay your head and fall asleep,
Mr. Sleep don't want to be anywhere near you.

I think its highly annoying, and painfully irritating.

If you are fully ready and orchestrated for a good session of silent snoring,
You should be able to have it.
Then again, in life not everything goes as planned.

The moment you feel you could use some sleep,

Homegirl Insomnia steps in and lays in your bed

And mess up the whole mood.

It's a never ending game of hide-and-go seek
Where the more you chase that sleeping feeling,
The further away it goes.

So I guess, I'll stare at the ceiling,

Think of stars that I wish I could see,

Count backwards, reminisce over some good times,
Talk with God,
Until this uninvited guest named Insomnia

Goes away, allowing Mr. Sleep to come lay in my bed.

Right where it belongs.

Here's the song "Insomnia" by Craig David. He seems to be having some issues with homegirl Insomnia too :)

Unecessary Luggage

You know the feeling when you have accomplished a task that was forever dangling on your to do list? When you feel like some weight has been lifted from over your shoulders, freeing you from this overbearing feeling of overcrowding.

After taking my MCAT that is exactly like I felt. Like the world was suddenly a shade clearer. Like I have finally achieved that one thing that wouldn't allow me to breathe freely.

Sometimes in life, we feel like there is some tasks, events, feelings or even people that are putting some weigh on us, putting pressure on our shoulders. Sometimes it is a weight that is necessary for us to get over our procastination or for us to push ourselves harder to get to the summit of our obstacles.

But other times, this weigh is something unecessary that needs to be eradicated as soon as possible because it might eradicate us if we dont do anything about it. Sometimes, people crowd us with their unecessary baggage. Sometimes feelings block our view of reality putting an unecessary weight that shouldn't be there. Sometimes, WE carry around luggage that should have been disposed of a long time ago. Sometimes, we create luggage that should not have been bought in the first place.

Either way, whatever your luggage might be, take a good lift and put it off your shoulder. Because the moment you do, you will finally be able to breathe for the first time. Not only will you inhale and exhale without a problem,...you will enjoy the scent of fresh air.

Energy...

You know the sensation where you feel like you just did so much during your day that somebody, anybody needs to give you a medal? Well not necessarily a medal but you feel so good about yourself that you could high five anybody that crossed your path.

It must be sensations like this that gave men the courage to do the extraordinary (i.e. go over the moon). When you feel highly energized, you feel like the sky is the limit. It then becomes a matter of how you are going to make it happen because the energizer bunny ain't got nothing on you!

Currently, this is my mood... I have accomplished so much today that I ended up telling myself "That's wassup G". I mean we all know that procrastination is the disease of the year so when you finally get over it, it is like you have conquered the world. Better yet, you feel like you have sooo much "swag" that Soulja Boy must have met you when he wrote his song "Turn my swag on" (minus the hop off out the bed part, we already went over this...) lol.

So readers, if you feel like you have been slacking lately, wake up your inner energizer bunny because once you do; procrastination will have NOTHING on you...

Stay Energized,
Gigi

Heart's Desire

Ever wanted something so bad that all you can think of is IT?

The thought of that specific element haunts you day and night....

It takes your peace of mind and gives your thoughts no rest.

It's a like a ghost of persuasion pushing you to attain that one element

A simple factor that will finally set you free of all your immediate desire.

You think, breathe and even sleep this "thing".

Forever haunting you...leaving you restless.

It even seems like if you don't get IT you just might die a little.

And only the realization of that one wish can set you free...

Only the presence and proof of IT in the flesh can finally satisfy your heart's desire....
.....
....
...
..
.

Well currently that's how I feel about being a doctor...I just want it NOW, I have been working so hard for it that it seems like it's taking forever and a day along with many obstacles before I finally make this goal a reality....
NOW what were thinking that I was writing about????...lol

Spice it up!

Spontaneity is not always a bad thing.

By trying new things depending on what area that element may fall, you may amaze yourself and open doors that you never knew were present.

It's summer time and with a grueling heat that seems to be forever present, the least thing you could do is find things to spice up your life. A long time ago, I learned that taking risks may be one of the best things that one may do. It allows you to grow, anhililate whatever inhibitions that you may have and most importantly you have the time of your life.

No, we are not talking about risks that would turn your life upside down in the wrong way. But we are talking about the risks that when thinking about what you have done you can only smile and laugh because it was that much of a great time.

So with summertime here, do yourself a favor and try something new. Even if it is something as small as ice skating, going on a road trip or something drastic like jumping in the pool fully clothed (alone or with somebody) or geting a whole new makeover . Or maybe its the opposite that you need: i.e. some time to yourself in order to get back to where you want to be.

Either way, give it a try. You will be amazed at how a little something new can put some "caliente" in your life :)

Stay spicy,
Gigi

Comedy Gone Wrong

Have you ever been talking to a friend and they say something that they think is funny and yet you cant bring yourself to laugh. You're probably thinking that it is not that funny.

Personally, I do it all the times. I say something that may sound hilarious to my particular state of mind but yet I just get those blank stares back. And I'll say "Do you get it?" and they will just keep staring. It doesn't bugg me because I am no Martin Lawrence but once in awhile I amaze myself by saying a story that actually sounds pretty funny. And I laugh about it way after it is no longer funny.

Now what are we suppose to do when a third party does that? They say something after which they start laughing and look at you because you are suppose to laugh along... with them that is, NOT at them... What if you are not in a laughing mood? Or the story is just comedy gone wrong? Are you supposed to nod and smile? Or roll yours eyes because the story just flew over your head? Or are u supposed to chuckle, just because you do not want that person to feel bad?

I think i'll just chuckle today...because my boss just said something that honestly I have no clue when the funny part came into the story. So i'll just chuckle and give her a little ego boost. And maybe, just maybe next time, I will actually be able to laugh...

Auto Pilot

Ever feel like you're on auto-pilot?

You are there but just not quite.

You do automatically what you are expected to do.

Quite frankly it looks like you are functionning normally .

You smile when necessary, Nod when it is appropriate.

Kinda like a guy who is partially paying attention to his girl lol.

Well this morning, I am on auto pilot.

It's like my body is there

But my mind seems to escape its environment from time to time.

It is not an episode of daydreaming

Because daydreaming incapacites one to a certain level.

It is more like a cloudy gaze

In which my mind is captured in one place taking an improptu vacation

Leaving my body reflexes doing all the heavy work in auto pilot

Hop off out the bed...

It's 8:45am and after a mere 5 1/2 hours of sleep, I am forced to "hop off out the bed and turn my swag on"...whatever that is. Don't get me wrong, this song is really nice and Soulja Boy did his thing. But, we all know that we certainly do NOT hop off the bed, we twist and turn, curse the alarm, wish we could stay in bed just a little longer, throw the cover over our heads and then...we dragg ourselves out of bed.
However, if you are like me on this sunshiny looking Tuesday, and at any point of the day or week you have to stop whatever activity brings you joy (sleeping, video games, doing anything but going to work or just plain doing nothing substantial) and go to the "wonderful" job of yours or go to school, give yourself a pat on the back because you are actually doing something great with your life..You are not being useless to society. You are not just taking up space and wasting oxygen that otherwise could have been used by another hardworking man or woman.
If anything, think about that paycheck or gratification that you will get in the long run!! and maybe, just maybe ...we may actually hop off out the bed and turn our swagg on, because we all know there is no better day than Friday-Payday
Stay Blessed,
Gigi
